Spotify may have just changed the concert game for good.

The streaming giant has announced ‘Reserved,’ a brand new feature designed to reward an artist’s biggest fans with early access to concert tickets before the general public.

Launching this summer in the U.S., the initiative will initially roll out in partnership with Live Nation and give eligible Premium subscribers access to exclusive ticket inventory for select tours.

Unlike standard presales, Reserved tickets will reportedly come from a dedicated allocation set aside specifically for superfans. Speaking to Music Business Worldwide, Spotify head Charlie Hellman says it won’t simply be based on stream count either:

“It’s not as simple as total stream volume, we’ve been around long enough that we can see your tenure as a fan and how much you stuck with an artist.”

The move also arrives as demand for concert tickets continues to spiral with scalpers, resale prices, and chaotic on-sales, frustrating music lovers worldwide.

Now, Spotify is betting that real fans should finally come with real rewards.
