RIAA: Saucy Santana’s ‘Material Girl’ Becomes the First Gold-Certified Hit of His Career

Makeup artist-turned-reality TV star and rapper Saucy Santana may be no stranger to watching his hits be met with viral responses on social media over the years, but that critical acclaim hasn’t always been mirrored commercially.

Recent news from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), however, suggests that status is poised to change.

Taking to press on Tuesday (September 9), the RIAA revealed Santana’s 2019 breakout hit ‘Material Girl’ had met the organization’s threshold for Gold certification. This means it’s sold 500,000 copies in the United States alone.

Found aboard his 2020-released debut mixtape ‘I’mma Celebrity,’ ‘Girl’ – inspired by Madonna‘s 1984 classic of the same name – famously got a nod from the Queen of Pop herself when she hopped on the cut’s official remix ‘Material Gworllll.’

The raise in public profile undoubtedly helped steam its ride to the RIAA certification it collected this week.
