Rhona Bennett Claps Back After En Vogue’s Recent “Misleading” Claims She “Chose” to Leave the Group: “Not Accurate”

The beef continues! Nearly five months after Rhona Bennett shocked longtime En Vogue fans with sudden news of her departure from the group after a 22-year stint, she’s still speaking out against the now-trio after comments they made in ‘People‘ magazine recently landed on her desk.

Despite that ongoing MAGA snafu/PR nightmare caused by Chilli, the members of En Vogue – Terry Ellis, Maxine Jones, and Cindy Herron – are still hot on the promo trail in support of their upcoming ‘Iconic Tour‘ with TLC.

Taking to ‘People‘ magazine, the Funky Divas dished on everything from the upcoming jaunt to their 30-plus years in the industry, and so much more.

While reflecting on their journey overall, EV3 were quizzed about the headline-grabbing exits of previous members Dawn Robinson and Rhona Bennett.

“There was a lot of going back and forth between attorneys, but we allowed her to continue to work even though it wasn’t signed yet, just giving grace,” Ellis told the mag about Bennett specifically. “Next thing we know, we hear on social media that she left, she’s gone…She could be here, she chose not to be.”

Once word of the commentary got back to Rhona, she quickly took to Facebook to clap back.

“To be clear, I always prioritized En Vogue. I worked with them, in good faith, for the last 5 years or so without an operating agreement (contract) in place. And this was not the first time that a contract between us expired while I still worked for years and garnered trust. I, too, didn’t anticipate that we would part this way,” said Bennett on Monday (March 30) in direct response to Terry’s statement.

Elsewhere in her lengthy response, Rhona disputed multiple claims the group made including why she was absent from that Rock & Roll Hall of Fame event and more – even arguing Ellis’ is conflating the timelines of her conflicts with the group.

“Ellis says, ‘Next thing we know, we hear on social media that she left, she’s gone.’ This statement is misleading and does not represent what actually occurred. My lawyer received a formal notice from their lawyer that the contract they were offering had been withdrawn on November 11th. I have the email. My social media statement followed on November 13th. So, who walked away,” said Bennett.
All-in-all, Rhona concluded by reiterating that her decision to leave the group was not based on a singular occurrence and was more the amalgamation of incidents that culminated to the split.
“I want to clarify that my departure was not the result of a disagreement over a specific performance. For several months, our legal teams were engaged in contract negotiations. Ultimately, the terms presented were not aligned with my values or a level of mutual respect in the relationship,” she shared.

At writing, no member from En Vogue has directly responded to Bennett’s clap back.
