Raz-B’s infant son showed no signs of trauma or foul play, police report says

The 3-month-old was pronounced dead at the family’s Atlanta home, while his official cause and manner of death remain under investigation.

Police investigating the death of Raz-B and Mona Li’s 3-month-old son found no obvious signs of trauma or foul play when officers responded to the family’s Atlanta home, according to a newly released incident report.

TMZ reported that Atlanta police responded to a “person down” call shortly after 8 a.m. on Sept. 8. Officers were directed to Astro Monte Thornton, who was unresponsive.

Emergency medical personnel arrived and pronounced the infant dead at the scene. The Atlanta Police Department’s Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Unit were notified and responded to the home, according to the report.

Police obtained a search warrant and collected items investigators believed could have evidentiary value. Detectives noted, however, that there were no obvious signs of trauma or foul play.

Astro’s body was transferred to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office. The office later confirmed that an autopsy had been completed, but his official cause and manner of death remain pending.

A spokesperson for Raz-B, whose legal name is De’Mario Thornton, and Mona Li announced Astro’s death last week, describing his passing as unexpected.

The couple also share an older son, Versai Carter. Raz-B had posted family moments with Astro in the months after his birth, including a Father’s Day photo with his children. In the statement announcing Astro’s death, the family asked for privacy during this difficult time.

The newly released police report provides more details about the response at the family’s home but does not establish what caused Astro’s death. The medical examiner has not released a final determination, and investigators have not announced any evidence of criminal conduct.
