Nearly eight years separate fans of Mya from her last studio album, 2018’s ‘TKO,’ but the wait for a new body of work is set to come to close this Spring thanks to the R&B diva’s recently announced LP ‘Retrospect.’

Just three days after releasing the studio effort’s lead single ‘ASAP,’ the GRAMMY winner was already blazing the promo trail in support of it and its parent project – taking to Monday’s episode of ‘Sherri‘ (February 2) to discuss her new LP and more.

“It’s rooted in my roots — the love of music, soul music,” she shared with the daytime TV hostess. “My inspirations: Teena Marie, Prince, Rick James, Stevie Wonder… The Gap Band, SOS Band, all of those influences and more. We’re taking it to the block party. We’re taking it to the basement. We’re taking it to the skating rinks. I love joy, and that’s what we’re going to be celebrating on this album.”

Her 10th album, ‘Retrospect’ is set to hit digital shelves via her independent label Planet 9 in partnership with Virgin Music.

At writing, she has not confirmed the set’s official release date.
