After her post went viral, Jordan surprised the family with gifts, a FaceTime call and heartfelt thanks.

Michael B. Jordan recently surprised 89-year-old Mary Story after the Tulsa grandmother went viral for placing his framed magazine photo among pictures of her relatives and joking that he was her grandson.

Entertainment Weekly reported that Jordan called Story on FaceTime to thank her for including him on the family wall. During the conversation, she turned the phone toward the display, where his portrait hung among photographs of relatives, civil rights figures and former President Barack Obama.

Story’s granddaughter, Natalie Sims, posted the original video in May. It drew 1.7 million views, and Jordan’s team contacted the family two days later to say he had seen it while traveling abroad and wanted to respond.

Before the FaceTime call, Jordan sent Story a David Yurman bracelet and necklace adorned with amethyst, her birthstone. The gift also carried a personal connection because Story and Jordan both have February birthdays, six days apart.

During the call, Story greeted Jordan as his new grandmother and her daughter welcomed him as a nephew. Jordan thanked the family for the affection and said he appreciated seeing three generations of Black women together.

He also praised the women’s strength and their connection to Tulsa. After the family invited him to visit, Jordan suggested that he might surprise them in person someday.

Sims later thanked Jordan publicly for his generosity and attention, saying his team responded quickly after the original post spread online. Her message ended by telling the actor that he was now part of the family.
