Janet Jackson is giving Missy Elliott her flowers, and the love extends well beyond the stage.

After presenting the Rap pioneer with the Icon Award at the 2026 Gala of the Stars, the Pop queen has shared a heartfelt salute to her longtime friend alongside a collection of photos and clips from their reunion.

Taking to social media, Jackson celebrated the woman behind the boundary-breaking artistry, writing:

“Jack, your artistry has sealed your status in history as an ICON, but to me, you’re so much more than that. In an industry where it’s so difficult to find authentic, loyal friends, you have been that for me & I’m so lucky to have found u. I will cherish our friendship forever.”

She continued:

“It was so good to see you this week! Thank u for ur warmth, ur kind heart, and the endless laughs. Congratulations again on the award (so well deserved!). I love celebrating you, and I always will, whether we’re in the same room or not. I love you. J”

As previously announced, the October 22 ceremony benefited Dancers Against Cancer. Jackson herself received the same honor last year, making her return to salute her friend especially fitting.

From ‘Son of a Gun’ to their ‘BURNITUP!’ collaboration from 2015’s ‘Unbreakable’ to moments like this, the bond runs deep.
