Bart Edmiston Jr., a friend of the late Nolan Wells, is taking legal action against a social media personality his attorney says has spread false claims about him amid the ongoing investigation into the Mississippi teen’s death.

According to TMZ, Edmiston’s attorney, Russell Latino, sent a cease and desist letter Wednesday to social media figure Kymbra Li, accusing her of pushing false and defamatory statements across her platforms. The five-page letter, obtained by the outlet, alleges Li falsely claimed that Edmiston helped cause Nolan’s death and took part in a cover-up.

Beyond the accusations themselves, the letter raises serious safety concerns. According to TMZ, Latino claims Li published Edmiston’s address, photos of his home, property records and details about where his family members work, allegedly exposing him and his relatives to harassment and potential danger.

The letter lays out several demands: that Li make her posts about Edmiston private while preserving them as potential evidence, stop sharing his personal information, and issue a public apology acknowledging she had no factual basis to tie him to Nolan’s death. TMZ reported that Latino gave Li five business days to comply, though he indicated Edmiston may pursue a lawsuit regardless.

Importantly, the outlet noted that Latino stressed law enforcement has not identified Edmiston as a suspect or person of interest, contrary to what Li has allegedly claimed. Edmiston’s family has previously said he voluntarily handed over his phone, photos, videos, boat and GPS data to investigators.

The move comes just after Edmiston retained Latino amid a swell of online allegations connecting him to the case. His attorney made clear he intends to keep pushing back, telling TMZ he anticipates sending additional similar notices, adding pointedly, “I love when little dogs think they are big dogs.”

The development underscores how intensely the Nolan Wells case has played out online, where speculation has increasingly swept up those close to the teen even as the official investigation into his death remains ongoing and unresolved.
