In a new interview with Vogue, the genre-blurring star teased fresh material that could arrive either as a deluxe edition of her latest album ‘Vie’ or a standalone EP.
While details remain under wraps, she described the sound as “bubbly” and “futuristic,” hinting at a sonic shift from the ’80s-inspired, pop-leaning sounds of ‘Vie.’
The tease comes as Doja continues her ‘Tour Ma Vie’ global trek, an era that has seen her embracing experimentation and reinvention. Speaking on the upcoming dates, she shared that:
“We’ve got a lot of fun ideas that I can’t spoil at the moment.”
But beyond the music, she got real about life and the spotlight and facing criticism, she expressed:
“When I feel that I’m threatened, even though it may not be a threat at all, it rhymes with: ‘You are failing.’ […] I feel like I have to defend my creative choices, and then I give those people power even though they could be anybody—they could have Cheeto dust on their fingers and have no job.”
Elsewhere, she revealed she’d pursue psychology if not music, saying:
“I think the human mind is just so complex and fascinating and beautiful and chaotic.”
And on her tactic for dodging the paparazzi? She shared:
“Sometimes I try to look purposefully ugly. I turn it into a game.”
Whether her new project lands as an extension or a brand new body of work, one thing’s clear; she’s not done pushing boundaries just yet, and she’s in full control.
