Chris Rock says working with daughter Zahra on ‘Grown Ups 3’ is the best part of returning to the franchise

After years of bringing his daughters to set, Rock says sharing the screen with Zahra has made the sequel even more meaningful.

For Chris Rock, the biggest reason to be excited about “Grown Ups 3” isn’t just reuniting with Adam Sandler and the rest of the original cast—it’s getting to share the experience with his youngest daughter.

According to PEOPLE, Rock said filming the long-awaited comedy sequel has been especially meaningful because 22-year-old Zahra Rock is now part of the cast after growing up around the franchise. “It’s going so well. We’re having a great time,” Rock said, adding, “It’s gonna blow your mind how good ‘Grown Ups 3’ is.” 

When asked who has been the most fun to work with on set, Rock kept it simple.

“Yeah, I’m having fun with everybody,” he said, before noting that working with Zahra has made the experience particularly special. 

The moment represents a full-circle chapter for the comedian, who recently reflected on how both of his daughters, Zahra and Lola, spent their childhood visiting the sets of the first two “Grown Ups” films.

“It’s weird, my kids kind of grew up on those sets, and now my daughter Zahra’s actually going to be in the new one,” Rock said in an earlier interview. “Yeah, it’s great times.” 

The father-daughter collaboration doesn’t stop there. Zahra also appears in Rock’s new A24 film “Misty Green,” where he directed her for the first time. Rock previously shared that it was important for his daughter to witness him leading a creative project.

“So my daughter being in this atmosphere is very important to me,” he said, explaining that he wanted her to see “her dad’s the boss.”

“Grown Ups 3” reunites Rock with Sandler, Kevin James, David Spade and Rob Schneider, alongside returning cast members including Salma Hayek, Maya Rudolph and Steve Buscemi. The sequel follows the longtime friends as their now-grown children become part of the story, making Zahra’s casting feel especially fitting for a franchise that’s grown up alongside Rock’s own family.
