Chris Brown Gets 8-Month Sentence for “Vicious” UK Attack, But There’s a Twist

Chris Brown has been handed an eight-month prison sentence in the UK following a violent London nightclub attack.

The R&B superstar learned his fate at Southwark Crown Court today (October 26), more than three years after an altercation that saw a music producer struck with a tequila bottle.

However, the ruling comes with a major twist for the 37-year-old singer.

Full story below…

Brown has been sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for 12 months.

That means the singer will not serve any immediate jail time. However, the sentence could be activated should he commit another offence or breach applicable court conditions during the suspension period.

As previously reported, Brown pleaded guilty to affray in July over the February 2023 confrontation at Tape London nightclub.

The performer struck music producer Abraham Diaw with a glass bottle during an attack that prosecutors described as “vicious and unprovoked.”

Diaw subsequently required hospital treatment for head and knee injuries.

During sentencing, Judge Tony Baumgartner stressed that Brown’s celebrity status offered no exemption from the law, telling the court:

“Your fame, commercial success and professional standing do not entitle you to special treatment. The law applies equally to everyone.”

Brown’s vocal coach and co-defendant, Omololu Akinlolu, also avoided immediate imprisonment, receiving a four-month sentence suspended for 12 months.

The verdict follows Brown’s arrest in Manchester in May 2025 and subsequent release on £5 million bail.

More recently, four dates on his joint ‘R&B Tour’ with Usher were cancelled ahead of today’s hearing.

With the criminal sentencing now complete, Brown has avoided the immediate prospect of returning to a British prison cell.
