Amy Winehouse‘s music could be heading to the West End.

A stage musical built around the late singer’s songs is reportedly in early development, arriving in the news as the expanded 20th-anniversary edition of ‘Back to Black’ lands today (October 23).

According to Variety, producer Catherine Schreiber is involved and casting is underway. Winehouse’s father, Mitch Winehouse, is also reportedly connected to the project.

There is no announced title, theatre, opening date or cast. It also remains unclear whether the show would dramatize her life or use her catalog to tell a different story.

The report follows the ‘Back to Black’ anniversary tribute at London’s Roundhouse, which celebrated the album earlier this week. The proposed musical would be a separate undertaking.

For listeners looking to revisit Winehouse’s own recordings, the new three-CD edition combines the original album with rarities, bonus material and four previously unreleased demos. It also includes her February 8, 2007 performance at Amsterdam’s Paradiso, presented in full on CD for the first time.

That gives fans something tangible to explore while the stage project’s shape remains unresolved. With songs this personal and distinctive, the eventual creative approach will be as important as the casting.
