Adele is trading the recording studio for a film set. The  GRAMMY-winning powerhouse is stepping into acting for the first time with a role in Tom Ford‘s upcoming period drama, marking a major career pivot for the British belter.

According to Variety, the fashion designer turned filmmaker is bringing Anne Rice’s 1982 novel ‘Cry to Heaven’ to life, taking the helm of directing, writing, and producing duties.

Set in 18th-century Italy, the project boasts a stacked ensemble cast. Joining the 37-year-old are Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ciarán Hinds, Colin Firth, Paul Bettany, and Thandiwe Newton, among many others.

Pre-production is already underway between London and Rome, with cameras expected to roll this January. The film is eyeing a Fall 2026 release, giving audiences plenty of time to anticipate the vocal legend’s dramatic turn.

The news comes on the heels of Adele sharing that she would be taking another famed break from music, after wrapping her blockbuster Las Vegas residency and Munich live venture.
