The longtime moderator will temporarily leave the Hot Topics table to film “Women Like Us” with an all-star cast.

Whoopi Goldberg is briefly stepping away from “The View,” but the daytime host isn’t leaving the ABC program permanently. She is taking time off to return to the big screen for Netflix’s upcoming comedy “Women Like Us.”

E! News reported Friday that Goldberg discussed the temporary change in her schedule with “The View” executive producer Brian Teta during the Sept. 16 episode of the “Behind the Table” podcast. Teta explained that Goldberg would be away for portions of the next two weeks while filming the new movie, while continuing to appear on Mondays.

The break will create a rotating lineup of familiar faces at “The View’s” Hot Topics table. Former co-hosts Lisa Ling, Star Jones, Sherri Shepherd and Debbie Matenopoulos are scheduled to fill Goldberg’s seat on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, with Joy Behar moderating the discussions.

The temporary arrangement marks another instance of Goldberg balancing her long-running television role with acting projects. She joined “The View” as a co-host in 2007 and has occasionally stepped away from the show when other acting opportunities have come up.

Her latest project is particularly notable because “Women Like Us,” brings together an ensemble of veteran performers. Netflix’s “Tudum” confirmed Goldberg will star alongside Jenifer Lewis, Vanessa Williams and Vivica A. Fox. The film follows “a recently widowed woman who is taken to the Hamptons by longtime friends and her sister during what was supposed to be her 30th wedding anniversary.”

Goldberg previously missed several episodes of “The View” in November 2025 while working on an appearance in the Italian soap opera, “Un Posto al Sole.”

The move also comes as Goldberg continues a remarkable run on “The View.” Ahead of the show’s 30th season, she told People that it was “a little bit shocking” she had remained with the program for so long.
