The “Real Housewives of Potomac” star says the allegations strained their relationship, affected her career and forced the couple to rebuild trust.
Wendy Osefo’s marriage to Eddie Osefo has been tested by the insurance fraud allegations against the couple, according to the Housewife.
During the season 11 premiere of “The Real Housewives of Potomac,” the 42-year-old described the past year as their most difficult period together. She previously discussed the impact on her family, while earlier court proceedings established a January 2027 trial date.
Speaking to Eddie in the episode, as reported by Complex, Wendy admitted that their relationship had suffered since their October 2025 arrests. She also revealed that the accusations had affected her career, costing her teaching opportunities and speaking engagements.
“I think this has definitely been the darkest time in our marriage,” Wendy told her husband. “I had moments where I didn’t even want to talk to you. It’s definitely been trying.”
Eddie acknowledged the tension, telling his wife that he felt they were rebuilding trust.
The couple was arrested on October 9, 2025, after authorities accused them of filing fraudulent insurance claims connected to a reported burglary at their Maryland home in April 2024.
Prosecutors allege that Wendy and Eddie reported luxury belongings stolen, including items investigators said had already been returned to stores or were still in the couple’s possession.
Both have denied wrongdoing.
Wendy also confirmed that she and Eddie have separate legal teams as they prepare for trial. Their case is scheduled to be heard from January 25 to 29, 2027.
Away from the courtroom, Wendy said the allegations had affected her professional life. The former Wesleyan University visiting professor described losing opportunities she once received regularly.
She also expressed frustration with people treating allegations about her family and legal troubles as established facts before a conviction.
Wendy Osefo’s marriage remains a major concern as the couple prepares for their upcoming trial. Reflecting on their difficulties, she said getting through the experience would require greater honesty, openness and a willingness to remember their love instead of past hurt.
