Webbie collapses onstage during Dallas performance with Boosie

The Baton Rouge rap legend appeared to lose consciousness during a performance with longtime collaborator Boosie BadAzz.

Southern hip-hop legend Webbie collapsed onstage Saturday night while performing alongside longtime collaborator Boosie BadAzz in Dallas.

The Baton Rouge, Louisiana, rapper was performing at the Winspear Opera House as part of a special 20th anniversary celebration of Boosie’s “Bad Azz” and Webbie’s “Savage Life” albums. The sold-out Sept. 5 show featured the pair performing their classic hits.

Video circulating online shows Webbie performing with Boosie before appearing to lose consciousness and falling onstage. He was then escorted to the back of the venue to recover.

Speculation quickly spread online that Webbie had suffered a seizure, but there has been no confirmation of the cause of his collapse. VICE reported that the exact cause remained unknown as of Sunday.

The incident is not the first time Webbie has experienced a medical scare during a performance.

In August 2021, Webbie collapsed after performing at 213 Lux Lounge in Roanoke, Virginia. Video from that incident showed the rapper struggling to remain on his feet as members of his team helped him out of the venue. He was taken to a hospital, where a doctor evaluated him and cleared him to leave. At the time, a representative for Webbie said it was unclear what caused the collapse and specifically disputed reports that he had suffered a seizure.

As of Sunday, there were no confirmed reports detailing Webbie’s condition following Saturday night’s incident.

Webbie, born Webster Gradney Jr., and Boosie have been closely associated since the early 2000s, helping define the sound of Baton Rouge hip-hop. Their latest performance marked a reunion for two artists whose collaborations helped establish Southern rap classics such as “Wipe Me Down.”
