Dawn Robinson has never had a reputation for biting her tongue, so longtime followers of the 58-year-old know better than to expect her to start now.
After her former group En Vogue sent shockwaves through the music industry this week by confirming the exit of member Rhona Bennett after 22 years of service, fans looked to see Robinson’s response to the report having long made her gripes with the R&B collective known.
She didn’t keep them waiting long; look inside to see her spicy reaction to the news of Bennett’s departure.
During her visit to ‘Halftime Chat RnB Podcast With Nnamdi Okoye,’ Robinson didn’t mince words while weighing in on the latest En Vogue lineup shakeup.
“22 years? I was only in [the group] for 8, but I brought a lot of big hits. She was with them for 22 years; no hits but still she gave a lot of time to that group,” Dawn shared. “They should’ve said ‘we love her and thank you for 22 years of your life.'”
When not expressing her disappointment about how “sweet” and “politically correct” Rhona’s departure announcement was, Robinson slammed En Vogue for being “mean girls” and even alleged their statement about the exit was untruthful.
“This was a time for them to tell the truth for a change, but they never do,” she said before suggesting the group should’ve detailed the specifics of what caused the split.
Among those “specifics,” according to Dawn, was the notion that Maxine Jones‘ surprise 2025 return after a nearly two-decade absence was a “set up” to get rid of Rhona.
