Tate McRae has finally addressed it. Sort of.

The Canadian star was asked about persistent speculation linking her to MAGA in a new interview.

Notably, she never actually denied it.

What Tate McRae Said About MAGA Rumors

In a Variety cover story, she was asked why she avoids that conversation; the 23-year-old pointed to her actions instead of her politics.

“I like to say my piece through organizations I support and the environment that I have on tour.”

She then left the rest to inference.

“I think it’s pretty obvious what kind of person I am and the things I support. And I hope that my fans can see that through the things that I’m putting my energy towards.”

The publication linked the remark to her merchandise. Proceeds from her ‘Little Miss Possessive’ hoodie go to The Trevor Project, which provides crisis support for LGBTQ+ young people, and the Global Fund for Women.

Where the Speculation Came From

The chatter began with Morgan Wallen. Their 2025 duet ‘What I Want’ debuted atop the Billboard Hot 100, handing McRae her first #1.

It also generated a wave of backlash. Wallen has never publicly endorsed Donald Trump, though he holds a strong following among conservative audiences and carries a controversial past.

McRae addressed that fallout previously, telling Rolling Stone she simply wanted to cross genres and was shocked by how much the song became attached to everything around it.

Her reported romance with New Jersey Devils centre Jack Hughes intensified it further.

Hughes won gold with the US men’s hockey team at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

During a congratulatory call, players were reported to have laughed at a joke Trump made about the women’s team. The clip went all sorts.

McRae declined to expand on the relationship, saying she keeps those matters private.

And it seems that even in somewhat addressing the chatter, she’s still keeping her innermost thoughts close to her chest.
