Summer Walker Makes Billboard History As ‘Finally Over It’ Lands the Year’s Biggest Debut for a Female R&B Act [Chart Check]

Despite entering this week’s Billboard 200 with her lowest first-week figures to date, Summer Walker‘s third studio album – the November 14-released ‘Finally Over It‘ – still managed to be attached to some history-making wins for the R&B diva.

Summer Walker’s ‘Finally Over It’

First-Week Sales (SPS): 77,000

First-Week Sales (Pure): 8,000

Billboard 200 Debut: #2

‘Finally’ opened on the updated Billboard 200 at #2 with total sales of 77,000 – a sum that marks the largest debut for any female R&B album released this year.

Besting industry analyst predictions by nearly 20,000 units, the LP’s final figure was bolstered by two deluxe editions, a standard version, a physical CD, an Apple-exclusive release with five bonus tracks, and more.

While the first-week numbers that accompanied ‘Finally’ to its Billboard 200 opening come as the lowest of any Summer album, the set’s arrival keeps her unique Billboard 200 streak intact as she has never had a studio effort debut lower than #2 on the tally.

2019’s ‘Over It’ opened to 134,000 sold (#2 debut) while its follow-up ‘Still Over It’ soared to #1 with inaugural sales of 166,000.

Although ‘Finally’ can boast 7 of its tracks landing on the main Pop chart (Hot 100), it fared even better on the Hot Hip-Hop/R&B Songs hitlist after delivering 16 concurrent placements.
