Wunmi Mosaku gave the Golden Globes red carpet a personal and powerful moment this year.

The Nigerian-British actress arrived glowing and visibly pregnant, marking her first public appearance since welcoming her first child last year.

The reveal unfolded as the ceremony kicked off in Beverly Hills, where the 39-year-old stepped out with her baby bump on full display.

As she hit the carpet, the ‘Sinners’ star published an accompanying essay with Vogue, confirming she is expecting her second child and explaining why the moment carried such weight.

“I have some news. Beautiful, personal, sacred news. A prayer, really.”

Mosaku went on to reflect on the privacy she encased the news in, as well a her Nigerian upbringing, sharing that pregnancy announcements are traditionally guarded, while acknowledging that the success of ‘Sinners’ and awards season visibility made privacy harder to maintain.

“I’ll be in the public eye for the coming weeks… and I will be doing it with an ever-growing bump.” 

Rather than continue deflecting speculation, the actress said she chose to embrace the moment fully at the Golden Globes, allowing herself and her baby to be present as the film competes for seven nominations on the night.

Mosaku, who is married and keeps her personal life largely private, has not shared further details about her pregnancy.
