As one of music history’s most prized female songwriters, Linda Perry has penned hits for some of the biggest names in music including Celine Dion, Ariana Grande, Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, P!nk, Miley Cyrus, Gwen Stefani, and many more.

But, for all her top-selling and award-winning collaborations over the years, Perry recently admitted a dream tag team with a certain Madonna continues to elude her – much to her chagrin.

While chatting it up with our buds at Consequence recently, Linda admitted Madonna remains #1 on her collaborator bucket list despite the diva consistently denying previous requests to join forces in the studio – a missed opportunity the songwriter referred to as a “thorn in my side.”

“She’s turned me down so many times. When Madonna is ready to retire, she should make that album with me because I’ll make her such a great album,” Perry said (as seen above) before sharing, “So Madonna, call me when you’re ready to get back to your f—ing strength, alright?”

Madge, who earned her biggest hit of this decade as a song leader with the April-released ‘Bring Your Love‘ featuring Sabrina Carpenter, is preparing to release her 15th studio album ‘Confessions II.’

For Perry, however, the 67-year-old’s proclivity for tag-teaming with younger artists is diluting her brand.

In fact, while she praised the 67-year-old as “one of the greatest” and a trend “leader,” Linda also argued the Pop monarch’s latest musical output (like ‘Bring’) makes her appear more of a trend “follower.”

“She’s trying to compete with Charli xcx and this and that. Everything about her seems weak to me and not powerful,” Perry relayed. “So I would love to get that woman in a studio, slap her in the face a couple times and say, ‘Wake up! Get back to who Madonna is and what you represent. You are a leader,’ so we got to get back there and focus on the power of what her voice can do.”

Ouch!

At writing, Madge has not responded to Perry’s stinging criticism.

‘Confessions II’ – the conceptual sequel to 2005’s blockbuster ‘Confessions on a Dancefloor’ album – is due on digital shelves July 3.
