As previously reported, the film follows a talented but sheltered dance student who finds inspiration, romance and an unexpected family within New York City’s subway scene.

Ceyair Wright leads the story alongside Reid, while Long’s role is currently being kept under wraps.

Production is now underway in New York City. Taylor is directing from a screenplay by Maurice Williams, based on Eric Gross’ 2020 Black List script.

Leslie Odom Jr., Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Jodie Turner-Smith, Asante Blackk and Woody McClain are among the previously announced ensemble.

The movie marks another major expansion of Taylor’s creative portfolio, placing the performer behind the camera for a story rooted in Harlem-born Litefeet dance culture.

‘Get Lite’ is scheduled for a wide theatrical release on August 20, 2027.
