The model says sharing her family’s story connected her with other parents navigating childhood cancer.
Influencer Nara Smith is opening up about how her daughter’s cancer diagnosis changed her family’s life. She says what first felt like an isolating experience became one filled with support from parents facing similar battles.
Nara Smith is sharing more about the emotional reality behind her family’s fight against cancer. Appearing on the Call Her Daddy podcast, the model and influencer reflected on her two-year-old daughter Whimsy Lou’s cancer diagnosis and how it reshaped her perspective on community, parenthood and resilience.
As reported by Complex, Smith revealed earlier this month that Whimsy was diagnosed with cancer late last year and has been undergoing treatment. She and her husband, model Lucky Blue Smith, have four children together.
Speaking on the podcast, Smith admitted she initially believed the diagnosis would leave her feeling alone.
“You feel like when something bad happens in your life that it’s usually a very isolating experience,” she said. That changed during long days at the hospital, where she found comfort in other parents caring for children with serious illnesses. She said opening up publicly also brought an unexpected wave of support, with messages from families facing similar challenges.
Smith explained that while she continued posting content online, she was privately struggling with the weight of her daughter’s illness.
“I was still posting my videos… while internally crumbling,” she said. She also recalled having a strong feeling that something was seriously wrong before Whimsy’s diagnosis. Smith connected that instinct to watching her own mother undergo chemotherapy for breast cancer. Earlier this month, Smith thanked supporters in an Instagram video.
