Michael Jackson continues to prove that audiences simply can’t get enough of ‘Michael.’

Despite fierce competition from new releases, the blockbuster biopic is once again leading the North American box office in a major way. And this latest victory pushes the movie closer to yet another huge milestone for both the King of Pop and Lionsgate.

According to early Friday estimates, ‘Michael’ is on track to pull in more than $25 million in its fourth weekend at the Stateside box office. That marks only a 34% dip from last weekend, an impressive hold for a film already deep into its theatrical run.

The Antoine Fuqua-directed movie brought in $6.6 million on Friday alone from 3,560 theaters, with premium screens such as IMAX helping keep momentum sky-high.

With the latest figures, the movie is expected to hit roughly $281.6 million domestically by Sunday. That means it is now on the verge of overtaking ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2’ to become one of Lionsgate’s biggest post-2010 theatrical successes.

At the rate of its continued box office victories, many industry analysts believe ‘Michael’ – already the highest-grossing biopic in North American history – could eventually overtake the $910 million-grossing Freddie Mercury story ‘Bohemian Rhapsody‘ as the first biographical film to gross over $1 billion at the box office.

The film’s success arrives amid a wider resurgence for the megastar’s music.

As reported, MJ’s music continues to surge to career-best streaming numbers in the US following the movie’s release, while classic collections such as ‘Thriller’ and ‘Number Ones’ continue climbing charts worldwide.

Indeed, as of writing, Jackson reigns as the #1 artist on Spotify.
