Perrie Edwards is opening up about her fractured friendship with former bandmate Jesy Nelson. Specifically, the Little Mix star says she has “no capacity” for Nelson in her life anymore.

Speaking on the Great Company with Jamie Laing podcast, Edwards revealed that the end of their friendship felt devastating.

Perrie explained:

“It is just as hard as a breakup. Especially when you don’t get closure. When that’s it, it’s done, and you’ve got no say in it anymore. I can’t move on without closure.”

Perrie says the end of her friendship with Jesy felt “just as hard as a breakup” because she got no closure:

Edwards admitted she initially wanted to reconcile. However, Nelson’s documentary changed that. 

She continued:

“Part of me wanted to… until her documentary. Then part of me thought: I’m not a horrible person, I haven’t got a malicious bone in my body, but I can cut you off. If you upset me and hurt me in a way where there’s not really any going back, I can forgive, but I don’t want you in my space.”

When asked if she thinks she’ll ever rekindle her friendship with Jesy, Perrie says she’ll “always love her” but no longer wants to reconcile after feeling hurt by her documentary:

She then explained that therapy taught her the difference between capability and capacity. Perrie added:

“I don’t have the capacity for somebody like that in my life anymore. As much as I will always love her, I don’t think I can hack that energy in my space. You can’t fix people.”

Despite the rift, Edwards said she reached out after Nelson’s twins were diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).

The 32-year-old shared:

“Seeing Jesy go through that… it broke me. As much as we’ve got our issues, I don’t want to see her hurting.”

Perrie is asked about reaching out to Jesy Nelson following her twins’ SMA diagnosis:
