Lil Nas X’s Father Speaks Out After Star Pleaded Not Guilty to Assaulting Cops & Was Released on Bail

‘Call Me By Your Name’ hitmaker Lil Nas X has seen his name dominate headlines over the last week following an alleged altercation with police officers after he was seen in Los Angeles roaming the streets in nothing but underwear and cowboy boots.

After being hospitalized for a possible drug overdose, the GRAMMY winner (born Montero Hill) was jailed for reportedly assaulting law enforcement agents and eventually hit with battery charges.

In the last 24 hours, however, he’s formally denied the accusations by way of a bail hearing.

Details inside.

Detained through the weekend, Hill was arraigned Monday morning (August 25) in front of Judge Sarah Ellenberg in Van Nuys, California.

After pleading not guilty, the rapper-singer was freed from jail later that afternoon with the case’s pre-trial date set for September 15.

He faces up to five years in prison if convicted.

Reports have it conditions of his release included not owning, using, or processing illegal narcotics and he must enroll in an outpatient drug rehab program.

While Hill has yet to publicly address the hoopla, his father – Robert Stafford (pictured above) – caught up with TMZ to inform them how the musician is feeling amid the legal drama.

“I think you all know everything that you need to know about what happened Thursday,” Robert said before denying his son is a drug abuser. “He’s very remorseful for what happened, but you know, it can happen to any family. He’s gonna get the help that he needs, and just keep him in your prayers.”
