The Rap star shared the statement via a paid ad in The Wall Street Journal, revealing that he endured what he described as a four-month manic episode in early 2025 that spiraled into destructive behavior.

Delving into the reason for his words, Ye said:

“I fell into a four-month long manic episode of psychotic, paranoid and impulsive behavior that destroyed my life,”

The 48-year-old said his bipolar disorder, which he publicly disclosed in 2016, played a central role in the breakdown:

“When you go into a manic episode, you are ill at that point… when you’re not, that’s when the wreckage hits the hardest,”

West credited his wife, Bianca Censori, for pushing him to finally seek help after hitting what he called “rock bottom.”

The apology directly addressed his widely condemned antisemitic remarks, which fueled backlash across politics, music, and business.

Stressing that mental illness does not excuse his behavior, he added:

“I regret and am deeply mortified by my actions… I am not a Nazi or an antisemite. I love Jewish people.”

he wrote, while stressing that mental illness does not excuse his behavior.

West also apologized to the Black community. He said, acknowledging the global impact of his words:

“I’m so sorry to have let you down.”

The message arrives just days before the release of his next album, ‘Bully,’ as the artist says he focuses on treatment, accountability, and long-term change.
