Rapper J. Cole is taking it back to the basics to promote his new album ‘The Fall Off, ‘ and he’s doing it his way.

Instead of a flashy rollout, the North Carolina native hit the road for a college tour, kicking things off at North Carolina A&T before making stops at Hampton University and Norfolk State University. 

From campus to campus, Cole has been pulling up in the same 2003 Honda Civic he grew up driving, going state to state in true grassroots fashion.

This boots-on-the-ground approach is a rare sight in today’s rap world, but it speaks directly to his connection with the culture and the community that’s supported him from day one.

The strategy appears to be working. 

‘The Fall Off’  is projected to debut with first-week sales of 280,000.
