Jay-Z and Eminem are linking up again. Specifically, the two rap icons will appear on a song from Rakim‘s forthcoming album.

The track marks their first musical collaboration in 25 years. Their last joint effort was ‘Renegade‘ from Jay-Z’s The Blueprint album in 2001.

The upcoming song will appear on a collaborative album pairing Rakim with Kurupt and Masta Killa. The project is targeted for release on August 28.

Matthew “M80” Markoff, the album’s A&R and executive producer, confirmed the news exclusively to Rolling Stone, saying:

“Em and Jay do not have verses on the interlude.” 

He added that Hov and Em will pay homage to Rakim’s legacy and influence. The interlude will precede Rakim’s first solo track featuring his own production in over 15 years.

Markoff explained:

“The entire album with all its parts were recorded in the past two years.” 

The album will also include features from Snoop Dogg, KRS-One, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Buckshot, and Daz Dillinger.

News of the reunion has sparked renewed conversations about “Renegade.” Decades later, fans still debate who had the superior performance on the classic track.

The album is slated to be available for pre-order in July.
