JAY-Z is officially back on the live stage, and he’s doing it in a major way.

The Rap titan has been announced as a headliner for the 2026 edition of Roots Picnic, where he’ll join forces with legendary Hip-Hop band The Roots for a special performance that’s already generating serious buzz.

Set to take place in Philadelphia, the two-day festival will see the Brooklyn-bred mogul and the hometown collective close out the first day on May 30 at Belmont Plateau in Fairmount Park.

The upcoming show marks a significant return to the stage for the Roc Nation mogul. It stands as his first announced concert since 2019 and his first live performance since joining his wife, Beyoncé, onstage during the final stop of her Cowboy Carter Tour in 2025.

The pairing is far from random. Indeed, they share a rich history, dating back to their iconic MTV Unplugged performance in 2001. Since then, The Roots have backed Jigga across various televised appearances, while Questlove has served as musical director for select high-profile shows.

“Moving the Roots Picnic to Belmont Plateau and bringing JAY-Z and The Roots together to perform are both bucket-list moments for us… We can’t wait to see everyone in May at the Plat.”

Tickets are set to go on general sale March 18, with a pre-sale already underway.

The announcement also arrives amid mounting chatter about a potential residency celebrating the 30th anniversary of ‘Reasonable Doubt.’
