Harvey Weinstein has been sentenced to 15 years in prison following his conviction for sexually assaulting former production assistant Miriam Haley in 2006.

The sentence comes after years of legal twists surrounding the case. Weinstein’s original 2020 New York conviction was overturned in 2024, prompting a retrial.

In 2025, a Manhattan jury found him guilty of sexually assaulting Haley.

During Wednesday’s (September 23) sentencing, Haley detailed the lasting impact of the assault and the emotional toll of repeatedly testifying against Weinstein. She described the legal process as deeply draining, saying:

“It has often felt like I was the one on trial. This process has been the worst decision of my life, for me personally. I considered pulling out so many times.”

The former film producer continues to deny sexually assaulting anyone and is expected to appeal.

He is also awaiting resentencing in California following a separate rape conviction. His legal saga helped fuel the global #MeToo movement after allegations against him emerged publicly in 2017.
