Fans of music’s royal family may have their eyes and ears set for news on the updated release date of Michael Jackson‘s forthcoming biopic (now due in 2026), but – as evidenced by a recent reiteration – Jennifer Hudson is already gearing up for the big screen story of his iconic sister Janet Jackson.

While hot on the promo trail for her October 24-released solo album ‘Love?…Or Something Like It,’ singer-actress Halle Bailey dropped by Thursday’s episode of ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show‘ (October 23).

When not dishing on the inspiration behind the long-awaited LP, Halle chatted about upcoming film projects, motherhood, and more.

Amid the conversation about Bailey balancing being a busy mom with her thriving career, Hudson pivoted to double down on her belief the 25-year-0ld should portray the youngest of the Jackson clan in a biographical film.

“I can’t unsee it; will you ever play Janet Jackson or somebody? Because [you] favor a young Janet,” Jennifer shared as the audience applauded. “I vote for you if there is ever a role.”

Halle was very receptive of the compliment.

“Oh my goodness, that would be cool. That would be really cool,” she replied to JHud.

The sentiment from Hudson is one she originally shared in December 2024 when Bailey visited to promote a Christmas venture with Motown legend Smokey Robinson.

“I would love to [play Janet] one day. People think I’m in the [‘Michael’ movie], but I’m like ‘no, I’m not.’ But, I would love to [portray her] one day. That would be cool,” Halle said at the time.
