Essence Magazine is kicking off Women’s History Month with impact in this latest cover spread.

Leading the cover is star Kerry Washington, who continues to expand her storytelling footprint across film, television, and podcasts through her production company, Simpson Street. 

Washington, who has long been a driving force in Hollywood, will also be honored as an Essence Icon, a fitting title for a vet in the industry and beyond.

But the power of ‘Sinners’  was created by the women who helped bring it to life.

Visionaries like Ruth E. Carter, Autumn Durald Arkapaw, Jayme Lawson, Wunmi Mosaku, Shunika Terry-Jennings, and Hannah Beachler shaped the film’s visual language and cultural aspects.

Through costume design, cinematography, hair, and performance, Essence is highlighting these women as Hollywood Luminaries. 

And the next generation is stepping fully into this spread also.

Fresh off her film debut in the award-winning ‘One Battle After Another,’ breakout talent Chase Infiniti is being recognized as an Essence Starlet. After earning multiple award nominations this season and remaining humble throughout it all, she embodies what it means to be leading in the industry.
