Samsung is pushing back against the lawsuit brought by Dua Lipa over the alleged unauthorized use of her image.

As reported, the global superstar recently filed a reported $15 million legal complaint against the tech giant, accusing the company of using a photograph of her on television packaging without approval.

Now, Samsung has issued a formal response denying any intentional wrongdoing. In a statement, the company claimed the image was supplied through a third-party content partner connected to its Samsung TV Plus platform and that it had received confirmation that all necessary permissions had been cleared.

The disputed image reportedly shows the ‘Levitating’ hitmaker backstage at Austin City Limits. However, Lipa’s legal team insists the rights to the photograph belong solely to the singer, and no commercial authorization was ever granted.

Samsung’s full statement reads:

“Ms. Lipa’s image was used in 2025 to reflect the content of our third-party partners that is available on Samsung TVs and was originally provided by a content partner for our free streaming service Samsung TV Plus. The image was used only after receiving explicit assurance from the content partner that permission had been secured, including for the retail boxes. Given this assurance, we deny any allegations of intentional misuse. Samsung has great respect for Ms. Lipa and the intellectual property of all artists. We have actively sought and remain open to a constructive resolution with Ms. Lipa’s team.”
