Diddy’s release date from prison moved up despite recent infraction over fight with another inmate

The release date for the disgraced music mogul has fluctuated since he was sentenced last October on sex crime charges.

Sean “Diddy” Combs‘ projected release date from federal prison has once again moved.

Per the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ website, the disgraced mogul, who was sentenced to 50 months behind bars in October 2025, is now reportedly set to be released on January 24, 2028. Numerous outlets have verified the date, as his release date has become a much-discussed topic since his sentencing nearly one year ago.

Combs’ behavior behind bars had led to his release date fluctuating. Originally scheduled to be released on May 8, 2028, Combs had his release date pushed back due to a violation of jail rules regarding prison wine, and then had it pushed up to April 25. However, a recent fight inside the FCI facility at Fort Dix resulted in Combs being sent to solitary confinement following a fight.

According to TMZ, Combs was insulted by another inmate, prompting a scuffle between the two, during which Diddy had to “take matters into his own hands.” He reportedly held his own before security guards and prison officials broke it up.

“We are not at liberty to disclose or provide internal information pertaining to any inmate in our custody,” a spokesperson FCI Fort Dix said in a statement made to TMZ. “Such information would not be available for the public domain.”

When TMZ asked the Bureau of Prisons about the incident, the BOP stated it would not comment on “disciplinary matters, or other information regarding individual inmates due to privacy, safety and security concerns.”

In recent months, the disgraced mogul has continued to file appeals to his conviction of violating the Mann Act. His most recent appeal centers around the argument that the videotaped encounters featuring Combs and other individuals were amateur pornography and not sex crimes. Earlier this month, Combs’ name was floated as someone eligible for clemency by President Donald Trump.

According to CBS News, Combs’ name had come up alongside several other well-known figures as Trump considered pardons to coincide with the America 250 and Freedom 250 celebrations. However, the decision to grant clemency or a pardon for Combs never came to pass.
