Diddy Ordered to Pay NBC Nearly $500K After Failed $100M Defamation Suit

The legal tabs seem to keep mounting for Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.

Just weeks after making headlines for reportedly being dropped by his lawyers after months of unpaid fees, the embattled music mogul – currently serving a 50-month prison sentence for sex crimes – was more recently slapped with another hefty bill in relation to his failed attempt to sue NBCUniversal.

As reported here, the 56-year-old filed a whopping $100 million defamation lawsuit against NBCUniversal, Peacock, and affiliates in 2025 for the ‘Diddy: Making of a Bad Boy’ documentary.

Branding the project a “shameless capitalization on the public’s insatiable appetite for content” about him, Combs alleged ‘Bad Boy’ contained “numerous false and defamatory statements that NBCU and Ample knew were false or published with reckless disregard as to whether they were false or not.”

“…the entire premise of the documentary assumes that Mr. Combs has committed numerous heinous crimes, including serial murder, rape of minors, and sex trafficking of minors,” a statement delivered at the time of the suit relayed. “It maliciously and baselessly jumps to the conclusion that Mr. Combs is a ‘monster’ and ‘an embodiment of Lucifer’ with ‘a lot of similarities’ to Jeffrey Epstein.”

New York judge Phaedra F. Perry-Bond disagreed, dismissing the suit in late August 2026.

On Tuesday (October 6), Perry-Bond ruled Diddy is on the hook to cover $477,700.50 of the defendants’ attorneys’ fees – nearly half of the $990,000 charged by NBC’s attorneys.

“Although the court is cognizant that the rates charged here are higher than the customary rates, due to the publicity, complexity, quantum of damages, caliber and experience of the attorneys, the results achieved and the quality of the submissions and performance at oral argument, the court declines any reduction of the defendants’ hourly rates,” wrote Judge Perry-Bond.

At writing, reps for NBC have not made an official statement on the matter.

Combs reportedly tried to initiate the process of appealing to reinstate his claims against the network, but the case was one of many dropped by his former law firm due to a highly publicized money dispute.

At the time of this report, it’s not been announced if Diddy still intends to pursue that appeal with different lawyers.

However, he is said to be hard-at-work on an appeal of the criminal charges that landed him in prison.
