Less than two weeks ahead of its scheduled September 10 kickoff, Issa Rae and the cast of her groundbreaking HBO comedy ‘Insecure‘ announced the show’s highly anticipated 10th anniversary tour has pumped its brakes.

There’s a twist, however.

Rae was set to be joined by ‘Insecure’ former showrunner Prentice Penny and the series’ leading castmates Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis, and Natasha Rothwell on a 13-city tour celebrating the show’s cultural impact and enduring legacy.

Just as fans in Detroit, Atlanta, Houston, Washington, D.C., Las Vegas, and more were gearing up to see the crew on a stage near them, Issa took to social media to share a video announcing the cancellation of the trek.

 “Unfortunately, our schedules got messed up,” she said. “But, we only wanted to do this if we could all be there and give you the best experience possible.”

Penny echoed the sentiment.

“We are so sorry we had to cancel the tour. We are also bummed. I’m serious,” Penny said, citing the cast’s conflicting work schedule as the main cause. “But everybody started working, which is good.”

Reports have confirmed refunds will be issued to ticket holders.

All hope isn’t lost, however.

Issa and the full cast are still keeping their commitmente of the October 8 date for a special anniversary event at YouTube Theater in Inglewood (the city where most of the series was filmed during its 2016-2021 run).
