Courtesy of Benefit Cosmetics Tonight, Super Bowl 60 officially kicked off after a weekend full of star-studded football events. But, before the big game, Coco Jones performed the Black National Anthem (“Lift Every Voice and Sing”) at the opening night ceremony. And, to compliment her powerful vocals, she sported a beauty look that’ll resonate all Black History Month.
“I would describe this look as a classic nude glam using brown tones and beautiful skin,” Jones’ makeup artist Diana Shin tells ESSENCE before the game. “My inspiration for this look is a mixture of ‘90s, timeless and modern in my interpretation.” An era dominated by the natural beauty of Halle Berry, Nia Long, and Meagan Good, tonight, Jones was ‘90s fine.
To achieve the look, Shin prioritized the singer’s deep complexion with a skin like finish. She used Benefit Cosmetics Matte Primer and foundation to smooth and blur her cheeks and T-zone, before adding bronzer for warmth. But, to be ‘90s fine, it’s all in the eyes. “I always love to define the eyes,” she says. “I wanted to create a flawless complexion and accentuate the eyes with soft smokey browns, cat eyes and fluffy lashes.”
She used the same drugstore lashes we saw on Jones at the Grammy Awards last week, which cost less than $12 dollars. I-ENVY’s Mink Impact Everyday 06 lashes to be exact. “When placing the lash I like to lift the outer corners up a bit to create a more open catty eye,” Shin says, which was further accentuated by sharp, winged liner and a touch of nude eyeshadow.

The makeup perfectly tied into her sporty black hair, which was pushed back with a white headband (channelling Whitney Houston’s 1991 Super Bowl performance), and classic French tip nails. For Shin, seeing this moment come to life was almost unbelievable.
“I love how much we laugh together and the trust we built over the years,” she shares. I’m just so happy andrel=”tag”>celebrity beauty coco jones Super Bowl 2026
