Speaking on the Table Manners podcast, the Chicago native recalled how Turner played a role in her early journey with Rufus. She revealed he supported the group during their formative years and even invited her to join his revue, an offer she ultimately declined.
Still, it was her description of him that quickly made waves:
“I know people have different experiences with people, but he was a lovely human being to me.”

She also described him as generous toward emerging artists, adding another layer to her personal account.
The comments have reignited conversation due to Turner’s widely documented abuse of Tina Turner, who spoke candidly about her experiences for decades. Many flooded social media, questioning Khan’s comments, given how canon Tina’s account is.
