After Lyfe Jennings Clapped Back, Muni Long Apologizes for Calling Him a “Hating A** N***a” for His Hit “Must Be Nice”

‘Made for Me’ hitmaker Muni Long had barely made it past that “only Black women dislike my personality” controversy before she found herself making headlines for garnering backlash for taking to social media to diss a modern R&B classic: ‘Must Be Nice’ by Lyfe Jennings.

Once word of her unsavory review of the 2004 tune landed on the desk of Jennings, he ventured to Instagram to lend a clap back himself – prompting Long to officially apologize for her offensive statement.

Look inside to see just what she said.

Seemingly unprovoked, Muni took to Instagram Threads last week with a harsh criticism of Jennings’ signature hit.

“Maturing is realizing Lyfe Jennings was really a hatin’ a** [n**ga]… ‘Must Be Nice’ is crazy,” she told her followers on the platform.

Sparking a fiery debate as a result, the commentary quickly got the attention of Lyfe.

“Maturing is realizing that looking [through] a filter of trauma will have you seeing grey skies where there are only blue,” he replied in the comment section of a Shade Room post reporting Long’s original hot take. “I’m still a fan, Miss Long. Be blessed.”

Addressing the steam behind the chatter, Muni returned to Threads to assure R&B lovers her first statement was delivered in jest.

“Ya’ll got Lyfe mad at me, [for real]. Man, I was just playing,” she wrote before sharing she “actually never listened to the whole song” while growing up and didn’t like it as a kid.

Lyfe didn’t exactly find it funny.

“Sooo u leave me a message doubling down on ya post after u said it was a joke? Callin a grown man a hating a** ni@@a is wild work even as a joke. I’ve never been that maam. But what I have been, is humble enough to hold in high regard those that came before me and celebrate them as deserved. ‘Good news is you came a long way, bad news is you went the wrong way’ J Cole.. im bout to show u what writing is…,'” Jennings wrote in response.

Hoping to put out the fire before it got too hot, the ‘Hrs & Hrs’ diva returned to social media to lend a formal apology.

“Hey man, if I hurt your feelings, that’s valid. I can take that and apologize. Definitely meant it as a joke and no disrespect. This is getting blown WAY out of proportion, which is what I said to you in my direct message. I can’t tell you how to feel at all, again, no disrespect. I apologize. I’m done with it now I’ve addressed you directly and publicly. Have a nice day,” she shared.
