Williams contacted his family after nearly two days of silence and said he needs more time away from social media.
Days after he was reported missing, Kamar Williams, one-half of the popular social media duo 80K Twins, contacted his family, alerting them he was safe after nearly two days of silence sparked concern across social media.
However, the 80K Twins creator says he needs a few more days away before returning.
According to Atlanta Black Star, Williams spoke to his family after leaving home on July 14 and told his twin brother, Kiyel, that he had stepped away from social media to focus on his mental and emotional well-being.
Williams said he had been struggling with anxiety and wanted time to think about his identity, future and direction. He apologized for frightening his loved ones and explained that constantly being known as one half of a twin duo had made it harder to reflect on himself as an individual.
“I need a few more days of solitude to clear my head,” he said.
The update came after Kiyel turned to the public for help finding his brother. In a post shared through the twins’ joint Instagram account, he said Kamar had left home Tuesday night, stopped answering calls and messages, and that his phone’s location was no longer active.
The earlier appeal spread quickly across Instagram, TikTok and X as followers reposted the family’s message and expressed concern. Kamar and Kiyel have built a large audience through comedy sketches, pranks, lifestyle videos and family-centered content featuring their father, Travelle Williams.
The family’s update eased fears about Kamar’s safety while making clear that he is not ready to return to social media. His request for solitude also reflects a wider conversation among Black creators about the strain of constant visibility. Kai Cenat has spoken publicly about stepping away from streaming and prioritizing his mental health after an intense period of online work.
Kamar has not announced when he will begin posting again. For now, his message gives his family and supporters the reassurance they wanted while allowing him more time to decide what life looks like beyond being one half of the 80K Twins.
