Everyone knows Usher‘s Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200 stats are legendary, but his place in history books isn’t only cemented by his music sales but also his commercial performance on the Music Bible’s Boxscore (aka “Touring”) charts.

Just last year, the 8x GRAMMY winner raked in a whopping $183.9 million for the ‘Past, Present, & Future Tour‘ – is highest-grossing jaunt yet. Helping to add to the $422 million in ticket sales (approximately 3.3 million sold) he’s generated over his 30-plus-year-career, Ush is undoubtedly a towering force in R&B.

With those stats in his back pocket, the beloved singer-actor was presented the 2025 ‘Legend in Live’ Award by Billboard recently.

Taking to Billboard’s Live Music Summit at the 1 Hotel in West Hollywood on Monday (November 3), Ush was interviewed by Gail Mitchell, Billboard executive director of R&B and Hip-Hop, about his impact and outlook on touring before being presented the prestigious award.

“In the same way that I think all other industries have managed to monetize what they are — whether it’s hip-hop, rock & roll, country — I want the same thing for R&B,” he stated over the 30-minute chat.

Elsewhere in the conversation, the 47-year-old hitmaker shared he’s cooking up something that will really shine a spotlight on the importance of the genre.

“I’m an artist who was inspired by the legends. If I study the legends, then hopefully one day, I will be one,” he said before revealing, “I’m in the midst of working on something that may shine a light on a very specific period of my life and around performance. Just stay tuned. There is true value in live…I want people to continue to celebrate the music and legacy that is the foundation that I am.”

Although the didn’t go into extensive detail about what he has cooking the tease was certainly enough to get fans riled up.
