Tyga is unapologetic about his use of AI despite increased criticism over the use of related technology in modern recorded music.

Opening up to VIBE in a recent interview, the rapper talked about embracing AI tools on his recently released album ‘$tarface.’

The LP introduces his new alter ego of the same name, an 1980’s-influenced empressario.

And after fans online speculated that the project heavily uses AI, Tyga boldly confirmed it to the magazine.

He said:

“I’ve never spoken on this with anybody because I always felt like it’s similar to a magician explaining how he does his tricks. We definitely used AI as a [tool]. And I know people are going to be mad about me saying this, but it’s where technology is going.”

He compared AI to the introduction of autotune. He added:

“It’s no different than when Auto-Tune came out. Some people were opposed to it, but real artists took it and used it. As far as the writing, all the vocals are all me. There’s nothing wrong with using technology as a tool.”

Tyga contends that after 15 years of hits, he isn’t concerned with detractors. His new persona “could do whatever the f-ck he wants to do.”
