From the get-go, we see law enforcement revisiting that brutal night, Smollett with a noose around his neck, and the words of the detectives creep in, one admits:

“I thought it was a horrible crime at first.”

Contradicting details like brutal weather conditions and the involvement of the Osundario brothers, who prosecutors allege were paid to carry out the act, intensify the tension.
