Nearly four years after the tragic death of Migos star Takeoff, his parents are now locked in a legal battle over how to divide the settlement money awarded from a wrongful death lawsuit tied to the late rapper’s murder.

According to court documents, Takeoff’s mother, Titania Davenport, and father, Kenneth Ball, disagree on how the settlement should be distributed.

Davenport reportedly argues that Ball wasn’t present in their son’s life. And while he agrees with those sentiments, the rapper’s dad still believes he should be legally entitled to half of the settlement proceeds.

And while Takeoff (born Kirsnick Khari Ball) was raised in and primarily resided in Georgia, he was killed in Texas in November 2022 – a status that adds even more complication to the dispute.

Ball argues the Lone Star State is the most appropriate jurisdiction to determine how the funds should be divided.

As his parents battle in court over the settlement, the criminal case surrounding Takeoff’s death remains ongoing. Patrick Xavier Clark, the man charged with the fatal shooting of the rapper, is currently awaiting trial but remains free on bond.
