The special screening took place during the prestigious Tribeca Festival in New York City. Buteau, who also serves as creator, executive producer, and star, attended the event alongside cast members and fans.

The series follows Mavis Beaumont, a plus-size, Black, newly single stylist rebuilding her life. She thrives with the support of her chosen family, embracing body positivity, bold fashion, and unapologetic joy.

The upcoming third season will serve as the show’s final chapter. Netflix confirmed the renewal back in May, with Buteau expressing gratitude to fans for their support.

“This show is about joy, about friendship, about finding yourself after everything falls apart. I’m so proud of what we made.”

The series is based on Buteau’s critically acclaimed essay collection of the same name. It has earned praise for its authentic portrayal of plus-size experiences and vibrant celebration of self-love.

‘Survival of the Thickest’ Season 3 premieres on Netflix on July 2.
