Supporters raise more than $350K for lone holdout juror after Lindsay Clancy mistrial

Organizers say donations will help Michael Desronvil with security, legal expenses and lost income following the high-profile trial.

An online fundraiser for Michael Desronvil, the lone holdout juror in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial, surpassed $350,000 Monday as supporters rallied behind him following the mistrial. Desronvil has maintained that he believed the evidence showed Clancy understood what she was doing and should be held criminally responsible.

The trial ended in a mistrial on Sept. 4 after the 12-member jury could not reach a unanimous decision. Eleven jurors were prepared to find Clancy not criminally responsible, while Desronvil disagreed. Clancy has admitted to killing her three children: Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months, in January 2023. Her defense argued that she was experiencing postpartum psychosis and therefore could not be held criminally responsible. Prosecutors argued that she understood her actions and was criminally responsible.

After the mistrial, some jurors publicly disputed Desronvil’s account of deliberations, saying he had expressed doubts. According to CT Insider, Desronvil rejected that characterization. In a statement released through his attorney, Edward Paltzik, Desronvil said he “didn’t have any doubts” and believed the physical evidence, witnesses and prosecution’s case demonstrated that Clancy knew what she was doing.

The fundraiser, titled “Stand With The Juror,” was launched shortly after the mistrial. It passed $340,000 over the weekend and exceeded $350,000 by Monday morning. According to reports, organizers say the money is intended to help with security, legal expenses and lost income.

Paltzik said Desronvil has received messages of support as well as harassment following the trial. He has also said his client is currently staying at a secure, undisclosed location. Desronvil is expected to make a fuller public statement in the near future.
