Nearly three decades after Tupac‘s tragic death, the long-awaited murder trial over his killing is officially underway, but Suge Knight wants to stay out of it.

Jury selection began Monday (August 10) in Las Vegas, with Duane “Keffe D” Davis facing murder charges stemming from his 2023 arrest. Davis has pleaded not guilty and continues to deny involvement in the 1996 shooting.

Meanwhile, Knight, who was driving the vehicle when Tupac was fatally shot, says he has no intention of taking the stand.

Speaking to ABC News, the Death Row Records cofounder said:

“I don’t get paid to solve homicides, they make me come there against my will. If Keffe D’s lawyers bring me there, it don’t look good for him. If the prosecution brings me there, it don’t look good for them. Leave me out of it … You have people who wasn’t there, wasn’t in the car, but they’re telling the story.”

Knight also revealed that he still thinks about Tupac every day, calling the rapper his “brother.”

Prosecutors allege Davis orchestrated the attack, despite not being the gunman.
