As the 30th anniversary of Tupac Shakur’s death nears, embattled record executive Suge Knight could be called to testify in the murder trial of Duane “Keefe D” Davis in connection with the iconic rapper’s 1996 killing.

The Clark County District Attorney’s Office filed a 16-page supplemental witness list identifying more than 200 potential witnesses. In addition to Knight’s inclusion, former Las Vegas mayor Oscar Goodman, Nevada governor Joe Lombardo, and former LAPD Detective Greg Kading are also on the list.

The former Death Row Records CEO was riding in the passenger seat of the BMW when Shakur was shot in Vegas in September 1996. Kading has long maintained that Davis admitted his role in the shooting during a 2009 interview.

Davis was arrested in 2023 after decades of publicly discussing the case. He has acknowledged being inside the Cadillac from which gunfire erupted on September 7, 1996, but he has pleaded not guilty to murder.

Prosecutors also allege Davis orchestrated the shooting as retaliation for a fight involving members of Death Row Records at the MGM Grand earlier that evening.

Shakur died six days after the shooting at age 25. Jury selection and opening arguments are scheduled to begin on August 10.
