‘Shrek’ is officially back! DreamWorks has released the first teaser trailer for ‘Shrek 5,’ giving fans their first look at the long-awaited new film.

The teaser reunites original cast members Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz as Shrek, Donkey, and Fiona. 

Zendaya joins the franchise as Felicia, the now-grown daughter of Shrek and Fiona. Marcello Hernandez and Skyler Gisondo voice her brothers, Fergus and Farkle.

The trailer, which features a TikTok-style sequence, shows the characters asking a magic mirror, “Who’s the fairest of them all?” 

However, the updated animation style has sparked mixed reactions from fans. Some criticized the character redesigns as “horrendous” and “disrespectful to the original art style,”  while others defended the changes as an evolution of the franchise’s aesthetic.

The film is directed by franchise veterans Conrad Vernon and Walt Dohrn. Chris Meledandri, CEO of Illumination, serves as a producer.

Shrek 5 is scheduled for a summer 2027 release. The teaser also roasts Disney’s Frozen, featuring an Olaf-esque snowman asking, “Wanna date a snowman?”
